About Us

Championed by a group of animal lovers who wanted to provide our community with an alternative to the policy-driven approach to animal rescue and welfare, Animal HOPE Alliance was incorporated in 2006 and received non-profit status in 2008. We are staffed by volunteers, including a seven-member board of directors. All told, Animal HOPE Alliance brings together people with 100 years of combined experience in animal rescue and welfare. We do not operate a shelter, but instead work collaboratively with a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to bring hands-on grassroots activities and services to Montgomery County, VA that serve the needs of our community's animals.

We strive to uphold our mission--to provide humane, responsible, and loving care for lost, abandoned, unwanted, neglected, ill, injured, or abused companion animals. So far, we have rescued more than 100 pets and spayed/neutered 515 in 2008 alone. Through our efforts and with the help of the community, we will continue to rescue animals, promote spaying and neutering, and place animals in loving and appropriate "forever" homes.
